Our Story

Hi! We are Matthew and Amber Jensen, a husband and wife team who own and operate La Ferme a "farm to table" restaurant and The Crowded Table "table to farm" dining experience.

Matthew grew up in the small town of Starbuck, MN. He is a trained chef, who graduated from the California Culinary Instutite and worked under some incredible chefs such as Vincent Francuoal of Vincent a Restaurant and Jim Kyndberg of Bayport Cookery.  His heart lead him home to create a restaurant of his own. La Ferme (farmhouse in French) was born in 2013.

We believe "it does matter where your food comes from" so we work directly with local, small, family producers, ensuring high quality, clean ingredients.

We offer a causal lunch menu of hot and cold sandwiches, soups and salads Tues - Sat 11am to 2pm. Just call in for a to-go or order at the counter with Amber, find a seat and she will bring it out to you!

The Crowded Table is a new venture we have been dreaming about for years. Instead of farm to table, we are literally bringing the kitchen and table to the farm. Each event features a MN farm using their ingredients for the dinner. Learn more at

We also offer private in home chef dinners and host special events such as cooking classes, wine tastings, and our monthly five courses. Click on our events tab to see what is coming up next.

The restaurant is also available for private events/dinners such as grooms dinners, and business gatherings.
